New features coming to Dynamics 365 Field Service and the key areas of focus in this set of updates appears to be around enhancements around the Field Service Mobile App and how we can get better optimise the service operation as a whole.
The Dynamics 365 Release Wave 1 for 2023 outlines all the new features that will be released between March 2023 through August 2023. You can either browse the release plan online or download the document as a PDF file. The PDF file also includes information about Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Pages, Power Virtual Agents, Microsoft Dataverse, Microsoft Power Platform governance and administration, and data integration.
The Microsoft Power Platform features coming in the 2023 release wave 1 have been summarized in a separate release plan as well as a downloadable PDF
Organise service operations using trades
A new Trades category allows users to organise service operations by simplifying the work-order creation process. This means the interface will only display incident types related to a selected trade.
Specific trades can be associated with particular locations and accounts to allow users to filter trades such as electrical work, heating, roofing or air-conditioning work.
Enhanced Field Service search
An updated global search will find work orders based on the customer name and bookings using an engineer’s name.
Not-to-exceed function for work orders
Currently available in preview, this feature will reach GA during the next update wave to help service providers stay within the pre-approved costs for work orders.
Work Order Create forms
A new work order "create" form now existed with the following release. This gives user a more intuitive experience when manually creating work orders and ideal for any custom or bespoke processes that require manual entry of tasks, products and services.
