Next in my blog is a post about a recent announcement with Copilot Studio. For a while now we have been able to publish and use the agents we built within Copilot Studio to a whole range of different channels. These channels allowed us to publish to things like Teams & SharePoint, custom websites and apps, as well as a multitude of other avenues.
This latest announcement now allows for publishing of Copilot Studio Agents to WhatsApp! This feature release allows for real-time, conversational engagement with customers on one of the most widely used messaging platforms globally.
Pre-Requsities
To publish a bot to WhatsApp, you’ll need the following elements to be in place before configuring
WhatsApp Business Account and access to Meta’s WhatsApp Business API.
A verified phone number and a Facebook Business Manager account are also required.
Then, you can configure the WhatsApp channel within Copilot Studio to establish the connection.

Configuration
To do so, access your agent and select the Channels option within the configuration, from here select the WhatsApp channel in Copilot Studio.
Then we enter the necessary credentials and API details provided by Meta. Once the channel is set up, you can link your Copilot bot to WhatsApp, ensuring it complies with Meta’s messaging policies.

Once you are happy the pre-requisites are in place, you proceed with the configuration and align the neccessary Azure resources

Before going live, it’s important to test the bot using sandbox environments or test numbers. This helps validate the bot’s responses and workflows, ensuring a smooth user experience.

After successful testing and approval from Meta, your bot can be published and begin interacting with users on WhatsApp.

Deploying to WhatsApp offers several benefits, namely the fact it is one of the most popular messaging channels globally and is often the preferred method of communication for users.
But it allows businesses to engage with users on yet another messaging channel while providing the same end result, whether that be provide round-the-clock support or automate responses efficiently.
I hope you all enjoyed this post on the integration of Copilot Studio with WhatsApp. Take Care, Speak Soon!
