Today I am talking about a very muted update that I came across whilst reviewing the Dynamics 365 Release Wave 2 for 2023 updates. In this post I will outline the major change that has been announced about the new Dynamics 365 Customer Insights/Dynamics 365 Marketing combined product offering.
What is the new Dynamics 365 Customer Insights?
In this considerable update to both Dynamics 365 Customer Insights and Dynamics 365 Marketing, the new namely Dynamics 365 Customer Insights, integrates the separate Dynamics 365 Customer Insights and Dynamics 365 Marketing applications into a single solution.
Just to avoid complete confusion Dynamics 365 Customer Insights is retaining its original name, this upgraded offering now encompasses both the Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys (previously known as Dynamics 365 Marketing) and Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Data (formerly the standalone Dynamics 365 Customer Insights) applications.
Dynamics 365 Customer Insights Data as shown above, now includes all the rich functionationalty from Dynamics 365 Marketing, as shown below
Why are are the Dynamics 365 Marketing and current Dynamics 365 Customer Insights apps being combined into one offering?
In order to deliver maximum value to end users and enable them to enjoy highly personalized experiences, Microsoft have decided to amalgamate a unified customer profile with real-time customer journey orchestration at every touchpoint.
This integration creates a new user friendly, seamless and affordable package that simplifies licensing, making it easier for customers to purchase and utilise the applications as their business expands.
When is the new Customer Insights available?
The new Customer Insights combined offering will be generally available on 1st September 2023. At that time, new customers will only be able to purchase the combined offering.
Dynamics 365 Customer Insights will be available to purchase through existing channels of Enterprise Agreement, CSP, and Web Direct.
How is the new Dynamics 365 Customer Insights licensed?
Like the standalone Dynamics 365 Marketing and Dynamics 365 Customers Insights solutions, the new Dynamics 365 Customer Insights combined solution is sold on a prepaid capacity model, where capacity is collated at the tenant level.
The previous model had four capacity units, while the new model has only the following two capacity units:
People Interacted - similar to existing "marketing contact" unit in Dynamics 365 Marketing that now allows use of Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys.
People Unified - similar to existing "profile" unit in Dynamics 365 Customers Insights which allows use of Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Data.
Hope you all enjoyed this post on the Dynamics 365 Customer Insights! I will continue this series with some additional content specifically related to release wave 2 for 2023 functionality. Take Care, Speak Soon!
