Next in my blog series on Release Wave 2 updates for 2022 is D365 for Field Service Updates.
The Dynamics 365 Release Wave 2 for 2022 outlines all the new features that will be released between October 2022 through March 2023. You can either browse the release plan online or download the document as a PDF file. The PDF file also includes information about Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Pages, Power Virtual Agents, Microsoft Dataverse, Microsoft Power Platform governance and administration, and data integration.
The Microsoft Power Platform features coming in the 2022 release wave 2 have been summarized in a separate release plan as well as a downloadable PDF.
The focus areas for this wave in terms of D365 for Field Service are:
Save time with mobile usability enhancements
Manage work order costs
Organize your service operations using trades
Avoid overlapping bookings
New schedule board
Mobile app usability enhancements
As part of mobile usability enhancements, these are the upcoming changes for 2022 wave 2:
Users will be able to switch tabs in a form even when they're at the bottom of the form. They won't have to scroll all the way up to switch between tabs, reducing time spent on the form.
The mobile commanding bar will be updated on the most common tables to contain only functions relevant to the specific forms and views.
Improved navigation to easily switch between form tabs resulting in less scrolling.
Updated command bar to only contain relevant functions to specific forms and views.
Manage work order costs using 'not to exceed' function
Apply not-to-exceed values on work order costs and prices based on customers, incident types or location to trigger alerts if these limits are near or exceeded.
Organize your service operations using trades
You can now organize the types of services that you provide customers by creating categories of work called "trades." Examples include plumbing, roofing, electrical work, and air conditioning services. Your users will experience a simpler work order creation process because only incident types related to the selected trade will be displayed.
You can also associate trades to locations and accounts to filter what types of trades you are allowed to provide, so you don't accidentally provide plumbing services if you are only contracted to perform air conditioning work.
This feature will save users time as well as save your organization money by ensuring that you are only providing agreed-upon services.
New schedule board is now default
The legacy schedule board will be deprecated by April 2023. Enhancements to the new board include improved usability, booking tooltips and the ability to bulk change booking status.
Hope you all enjoyed this post on the Release Wave 2 plans for 2022 for D365 for Field Service. I will continue this series with some additional content specifically related to Marketing and Customer Service. Take Care, Speak Soon!
